What is a good treatment and cover up for puffiness and dark circles under the eyes? Serious answers only?

I am in the middle of mid terms in collage and I work a full time job at night so I am really lacking sleep, which has left me with some serious dark circles under my eyes. Plus I have a cold or the flu. Which is now making my eyes puffy for about an hour after I wake up. I leave Friday to go home for Christmas. Is there any thing that I can do to get rid of the dark circles and puffiness ?
Or something that covers up the dark circles really well? I really do not want to go home looking like this my parents and grandparents will freak. They don’t want me away at collage to begin with. They want me close so they can take care of me at home and I do not have to work. But we only have local juniors collages around. Please help !!!!!!!!!
Thanks for your help & Merry Christmas

Reasons Why You Have Dark Circles Under Eyes – Revealed!

If you have dark circles under eyes, you might think that you have a medical problem. The truth is that it is most likely not caused by any medical or internal problem, although it is one of the top two problems that dermatologists are concerned about.

One thing is for sure though, having these dark circles and eye bags will get you looks that are embarrassing, humiliating, and it will definitely make you look a lot older than your age because you’ll appear stressed out and overworked.

Before discussing the things that will help you get rid of dark circles under eyes, you must first know the probable causes why you have these. Namely:

1)      Nasal congestion – When you are experiencing nasal congestion, the veins from your eyes drain onto the nose area and in the end this leads to darker and dilated eyes and under eyes.

2)      Eyelid swelling – Because of gravity, some fluids swell and form in your eyelids as you sleep, thus leading to dark circles.

3)      From other skin diseases – There are other skin conditions that lead to dark under eyes like atopic eczema.

4)      Inherited – Yes, even dark circles can be congenital because of your parents’ genes.

5)      Lack of sleep – Most people know that the reason for dark circles under eyes can be lack of sleep.

6)      Lifestyle – If you are smoking or you are exposed to UVA light too often, you will have dark eye bags.

7)      Womanly cycles – When you are pregnant or you are having your monthly period, your skin will look pale; thus, your under eyes, even if they’re not that dark, will show.

8)      Make-up reactions – If you like putting on eye liner under your eyes and you are allergic to it or you do not remove it properly, it might affect your under eyes.

9)      Vitamin intake – Less vitamin intake can also lead to having dark eye bags.

Now that you know the causes, it is now time to know the natural remedies you can use to prevent it from darkening even more.

Slices of cucumber – Put cold slices of cucumber on your eyes for about 20 minutes. You can also use potatoes. By doing this, you will be able to let the blood circulation in your under eye area flow better. Almond powder + milk cream – Mix these two ingredients and gently massage it on the affected area. This is a good home remedy and it best done before you sleep. Lemon or tomato juice – A drop of lemon or tomato juice under your eyes will also help in eliminating dark circles. However, when you are doing this, make sure that you do not spill juice into your eyes because it might hurt. These fruits have high acidity. Diet – Adjust your diet. If you have been drinking lots of caffeinated drinks, it would be best if you cut down on it a bit. Fatty foods and sugared foods and drinks also lead to this. Make sure that you take everything in moderation.

These are natural home remedies that you can follow. This is a better way to eliminate dark circles instead on relying on eye creams that do not work and even lead to side effects causing your dark circles under eyes to darken more.

Dark Circles – Popular Home Remedies for Dark Circles

Dark circles under your eyes might reveal a couple of “dark truths” about your personal health. They usually occur when you’re overtired or developing an illness or an allergy. They can also result from losing a lot of weight. But the discolorations–the result of engorged blood vessels around your eyes–are themselves medically harmless. In fact, sometimes they’re not even an indication of physical problems. “They may be frightening, but probably the best thing you can do is to stop worrying about them,” says Merrill M. Knopf, M.D., an ophthalmologist in Long Beach, California, and an officer of the California Association of Ophthalmology.

Almost everyone gets dark circles under their eyes from time to time. Dark circles under eyes usually are temporary and not a medical concern. The most common factor is heredity, but any irritant that causes chronic tissue swelling (allergy, fluid retention, eyelash infection, rubbing, sun exposure, metabolic imbalance, medications such as birth control pills, etc.) may contribute. In cases of increased melanin deposition, blepharoplasty or fat grafting surgery will neither improve nor aggravate the discoloration.

Causes of Dark Circles

• lack of sleep

• iron or other vitamin deficiencies

• sickness

• hyper pigmentation

• “excessive” visualization (due to medications such as Retin A)

• visible blood vessels due to fast loss, thin, aging skin or hereditary thinness or superficial vessels

• fat loss in general which causes a sunken look

Home Remedies for Dark Circles

Dark Circles can be removed by applying peeled and grated potato overnight at least three times a week.

Avoiding use of bleach or peels to make the dark circles around eyes light.

Apply vitamin K cream. Although studies haven’t looked at the use of topical vitamin K for dark circles under the eyes, preliminary studies have found that vitamin K may help with bruising.

A complete step-by-step nutrition guide to improve your diet thus reducing dark circles.

Take a teaspoon of tomato juice, a few drops of lemon juice, a pinch of turmeric powder (if you are not allergic to it) and a little flour, enough to make a paste.

Massaging eyes with almond oil is of great help. Massage at bed time daily, and in two weeks you will see the difference. It is also a good remedy for dark circles.

Mash a cucumber, with the skin still on it, and apply the juice to your face. Leave it on for at least fifteen minutes, and then wash off. Also, make sure you drink enough water, exercise regularly, and get enough sleep.

Apply a paste of lemon juice, tomato puree, orange lentil flour (masoor dal ) and turmeric powder (if you are not allergic to it) on under eye dark circles. Leave it for 15 minutes and wash it off.

Every morning, after washing your face, gently apply mixture of equal parts of tomato and lime juice; wash after half an hour.

Apply plain cool teabags over closed eyes. Don’t use herbal teabags because most aren’t as effective.

Yoga can also help you to get rid of dark circles. Do pranayam for atleast 5 minutes everyday.

Almond helps to remove dark circles and is an excellent “skin food”. Remove the cream applied around the eye after 10 min. No cream should be left on the skin around the eyes for long periods.
